Made a couple upgrades to my 242 over the weekend.... I believe it was @swatski that used some Duck brand garage door seals around the engine compartment with good results. I can confirm it works! I don't have decibel measurements or anything, but both my wife and I noticed a fairly big difference. Before, running wide open we would have to yell back and forth to chat. Over the weekend, definitely didn't have to yell as loud to chat with her. Probably a little placebo affect there, but it was definitely a difference.

I used 3M Super 77 to attach it.

After all day out, a couple pieces weren't sticking that well. Will have to go back and try and glue them on a bit better. Wondering about using super glue, liquid nails or some other type of adhesive....????

Also, added a fabric shoe holder in the head. Bought it on Amazon and used 2 of the screws in the glove compartment that went into the head. Drilled 1 other hole as well. The built in grommets didn't quite matchup, so I had to poke a hole in the fabric on the far side. I don't envision putting anything heavy in there...

Huh, my wife also has to yell at me when we're at WOT. Problem is she's still at the same volume when we're in the house so I think I need a different kind of seal.

Now... How about the rattling helm door??? Window seal?

where did you buy the seal?

These ideas are great! I have a bunch of vinyl foam adhesive tape lying around so might try this as well on the engine compartment and helm/head doors. Might even put some around the ski locker door ... I like everything to be sealed tight without rattles. Below is a link to the stuff I have that can use. Can you send a link to that shoe holder?

I am ticked because I cannot find that Duck seal anywhere online. There is 1 9’ package on amazon but I need another one at least. WalMart is out. Went to duck page and the only place they list to get it is WalMart. Ha la anyone else found it? Or is anyone else using another option?

McMaster Carr has a lot of alternative sizes to choose from. I purchased some with 3m adhesive backing from either category d or f.

It took me a while to get the duck seal. I kept checking and eventually Walmart had it

Did the 3M Super 77 work . . .or would you go with something stronger if you did it again?

I used the 3m super 77 and was not all that impressed. I think it would work better if you could spray both surfaces, but I don’t know how you could spray the fiberglass without making a huge mess. I’m not sure what would work better.

It held thru the winter and is fine right now. Since it’s spray, gotta cover stuff up so overspray doesn’t get everywhere
