Since there is a wealth of knowledge on this board i thought i would just check and see. I dont know what year or model this thing is we have here at our shop, it was bought at auction, aftermarket paint job so we dont see any numbers or markings. This thing is giving us fits. I was wondering if anyone has a wiring harness diagram. It has a Curtis DC motor controler on it model number 1268 thanks in advance

I think have one at work I can send tomorrow. I will PM first. Cam.

What's the trouble?
I have some experiance with Club Car and their silly charger system.

We keep getting different codes on this thing. I think it has a short some where,
I think the main problem is that it's not pulling in the main contact. But I don't know where it gets the 48 volt control power for the coil

Check on www.buggiesgonewild.com. I just bought an EZGO RXV lifted with wheels, extended top, etc. That site has a bunch of great info.

I am looking at getting the same cart (or Club Car Precedent). Did you buy it from a local dealer or build it yourself?

I bought it from Custom Carts in Pageland, SC. They advertise on craigslist, Facebook, and their site http://www.southcarolinagolfcarts.net. Below is a pic of the cart I bought.

I know this is an older thread...
My wife thinks she wants us to get a golf cart to use when we go camping and what not.
I think I've seen a few people on here that have them, @MattFX4 I believe I remember talking about he had one.
I've worked on them quite a bit (mostly gas). When I was irking in Missouri, What I'm not sure about is should I look at getting a gas or electric one?

I like the one above that @cozilla got, that's the style I'm looking for.
It probably wouldn't get used a ton, if I kept it at home I'd probably use it around the neighborhood, it will probably be kept in my boat storage spot with no electric available, since I have room there.

Hopefully next summer I will keep my camper st a campground on the lake all summer so it will be used a lot if that happens, other wise we would go camping maybe once a month.

I'm not sold on getting one, one reason is my wife now has a mini van, the tow rating is higher than I expected at 3500 but now I have to put a hitch on the van and buy a small trailer, they are more expensive than I thought they'd be, I'm not sure it will get used enough to justify it.

This coming weekend we are going camping, I ordered a hitch for the van, rented a trailer and a cart so we will see how she likes pulling it with her van while I pull the camper, we're going a couple hours away so it shouldn't be too bad.

Anyone with a cart, gas or electric? Get used enough to justify it?

@Wayloncle yes, I have one and really enjoy it. I use it primarily as a neighborhood cruiser to the pool, over to neighbor's houses, etc. My 2 year old son really enjoys it also. We carry him for rides every other day or so. I haven't taken it anywhere outside of my neighborhood yet, but I plant to one day. I thought about taking to down to Destin/Panama City Beach area when we go next year. When it comes to electric vs gas, I prefer electric. It's stealth because it's super quiet, doesn't smell, and has tons of torque. Mine is upgraded pretty heavily so it will run 28 mph, and get there quick. I played golf the other day and the course had gas carts. They are loud compared to electric, and the exhaust smell was very noticeable. The con's of electric is the batteries. They are expensive. The set I put in mine ran me $600, and I got a deal on them through a friend. Without his discount they would of been closer to $1,000 easily. You don't want to go el cheapo on batteries either. I put top of the line Crown batteries in mine, and got the biggest AH capacity they had. You also have to maintain the batteries to make them last. Keep them fully charged at all times, and make sure the water levels are good. If you do that, and never discharge them below 50% they will last a long time. I hope to get 6 or 7 years out of mine. The thing that would worry about your situation is you said the cart would be stored with no power source. That isn't ideal because you want to keep those batteries on the charger while it sits for long periods of time. You may could get some type of solar charger to keep them topped off. If you do go electric, make sure it comes with a good smart charger. Some chargers aren't smart, and have to be unplugged or they will overcharge the batteries. My charger is designed to cut off when it is fully charged, and then it switches to float mode and maintains the batteries. I can leave it hooked up 24/7 with no issues. Ok, I know that's a lot but I really enjoy talking about the cart, and working with them. Let me know if you have any question.

The more I think about it the more I think I'd probably keep it at home, we would use it quite a bit in the neighborhood, like you said, going to the pool and such. I do like the quietness of electric, we went camping Labor Day weekend and these people had a gas one that had a loud exhaust, I don't know if they purposely made it loud or if the muffler was broke, but I got real tired of hearing their 10ish year old girl driving by ALL DAY LONG, braap. Braap. Braap. Braap. Constant around the campground loop. I had forgot how the engines act like they cut off and then turn back on so much on those on hilly roads.
When I go pick up my rental for this weekend on Thursday I'm going to look at what the dealer has, they sell lifted ones and such, I'm guessing being lifted really doesn't have a purpose other than looking cooler:-). I told the wife when she said she wanted one, "it has to be a lifted one".

Do you have any idea how much it weighs?

Yeah a lot of guys like the gas ones, but I don't know. I prefer electric for the quietness alone. It's cool to zip along at 25 mph whisper quiet. Well the lift could serve a purpose if you go offroading. You will have more ground clearance. I lifted mine for looks only. It just looks cool with 14" wheels and 23" tires. I think it weighs around 950 lbs. Maybe a little more with the accessories.

I agree with everything that @MattFX4 said. I have been using mine just as a neighborhood cruiser to the marina and pool. I did take if "off roading" through a large construction site across the main road. It was a beast in the mud but its still petty dirty. Good luck. They are fun.
