It has been exactly a year since we got our AR195. I last used it in November and it has been sitting in the storage lot since. I went and grabbed it one warm day in February, gave it a wash, greased the wheel bearings in the trailer, gave it a good once over, ran the motor for about 5 minutes, then fogged it and brought it back to the storage lot where it has been sitting since. At that time the battery voltage was on point.

I am planning on going out Sat and Sunday this weekend.....Sunday I am taking my wife, mother and mother in law along with my 2 kids to mothers day brunch by boat. So Saturday I am going out with a few friends for a "test run". Other than checking the oil, making sure the batteries are charged....anything else I should do before my first trip after "winter storage"? I live in FL, so it's really just a few months and never drops below freezing. thanks

Crank it before you leave. ;) Check the air pressure in your trailer tires. Recheck that all your coast guard required stuff is still aboard along with current registration (my registration renews in March).

Sounds like you are ready to rock! We live up in Parrish and have been out quite a bit this winter so you should have a blast this weekend. The only thing I might consider is changing out the spark plugs for the season, in the event that the fogging caused any fouling of the plugs.

  • Crank her up on the hose before going in the water.
  • Check for idle. If it feels rough replace the plugs.
  • Change the oil if you didn't before putting it up for winter.
  • Check the Bearing Buddy hubs to make sure they don't wiggle when you press on each side of the piston. If they do wiggle then add in some grease.
  • Hopefully you added in some stabil to your fuel tank during the winter.
  • Check the voltage when the boat is on the pipe at the house or wherever you run it on the hose and make sure it's charging. Should be 14.2+ volts when at idle and showing 12.x volts when engine is off.
  • If all that checks out then fill cooler with favorite beverages and go have fun!

My experience early on with separated fuel (ethanol), that the first owners used, taught me to use either HEET in the red bottle or keep Startron in her for a fuel additive, others just didn't seem to hold up down here in these humidity levels.
