Friday before the 4th - who's "working" today?

LOL my boss is off today, but I still got some emails out this morning with my "at work computer" signature on them so it's known that I was in early. Sneaking out for sure later, but zero guilt about it as I take zero PTO or time off in the cold WI winters for anything.
Must be boater mentality. I'm on a seemingly never ending streak of 3-day weekends from about May to September. Then it's 50hr weeks and "getting stuff done" in the cold months.

People have been telling me for years "next year you won't want to go boating as much, it wears off" and I'm like "care to put money on that?"

Uncovered Boat, washed down the inside, got all fishing gear verified on board, used the Acid Hull Cleaner, washed it good afterwards, wiped down all the seats with Hot Sauce cleaner and conditioner, cleaned the windows, wind picked up to 15-20 mph, was getting ready to get off the boat and hook it up to the truck, slipped off the soapy swim platform that I didn't totally rinse and into grass, wrenched my back, hit my head, went in made a chicken sandwich and a soup, sitting behind the computer now, watched me slip and fall on the ring camera which picked it up....... pretty funny, I am not graceful....... will go cover the boat later when the Admiral gets home to help and call it a day.

:(

Defiantly working today and harder then I want to. Everything is breaking from CNC mills to getting shop software to communicate with other programs. I am exhausted. Only thing keeping me going is knowing I will be at the lake by 8pm tonight.

Oh wtf... that sucks. Also, we're going to need that video..

Just another day in the lovely world of finance.
Didn’t even get to check jetboaters until 11

You have the most interesting luck! I fell off of my boat while driveway boating once when the step ladder moved while I was stepping on it. Went down hard in a pile with the ladder on the pavement! Got up rubbed some dirt on it and went about my business!

NO DOUBT....I'm on season 5 with this boat. Had 5 seasons with the last boat......Pretty certain I'll have a boat until I can no longer competently operate one and they force me to stay off of them.

Might just live on cruise ships after that.

Good luck man. Nothing worse than chasing your tail all day with software.

Trade you a CNC for a Fanuc robot!

Exactly. If you don't "get it" then yeah, you buy a boat, and sell it when the newness wears off. Or you're like most of us here, where we were all sea captains in our previous lives.

Guest on my boat: "That's so weird how I can still feel the waves after getting off your boat..."
Me, kicking the dirt: "Yeah... I wish I still got that feeling"

I was standing on the bow gunwales while in Pensacola and it was wavy as dammit. I bet I was having my knees bent at 45+ deg angles as the boat rocked back and forth, and I was stabilizing my torso. I was trying to get video of the airplanes flying overhead with my phone, and my "sea legs" were just doing their thing. Guest (non boat person) was like "HTF do you do that?".......I had no idea, I was just standing there. Second nature at this point.

30+ years on the water will do that to you.

NOPE!!! I am good with the CNC...lol

I put in 5 hours today, bailed at 11, 3.5 hour drive west to the big river and am now enjoying some cold beverages on the deck.image.jpg

Had big plans to mow the lawn. Maybe tomorrow.

Caught a few calls today (A/C tech). Then the rain hit so I finished my day finalizing paper work. Fortunately I'm not on call this weekend so I will be at the lake for 3 days. Happy Fourth, everybody!!
