Boat Stuff GPS Antenna Base Replacement

This is a replacement base for Yamaha part number F2D-U8K1L-00-00 also known as SANAV part number GM-88U.

It is a new design that fits the replacement cover and should fit the original cover.

It includes embedded stainless steel 3mm nuts ready to receive the 3mm threaded rods that are used to secure the factory base.

Disassembly of the factory base requires removing screws that will be used, removing sealant, disconnecting signal wires plug, cutting ground wire and pulling rubber grommet free from factory base. You may want to break the factory base to remove the rubber grommet without damaging it.

To reassemble first push wires and grommet through the base from below. Reconnect ground wire. I prefer solder and shrink tube but twisting and taping should be sufficient. The ground wire is not connected to the three pin harness that connects to the boat but it may provide some shielding along the length of the cable. Reconnect signal cables connector. Seal around grommet and cables with silicone caulk. Reuse factory screws to secure GPS circuit board. Install into cap with a bead of silicone around the outside edge. Install original screws from base into cap with silicone caulk sealing the heads. Install 3MM threaded rods from original base into replacement base using thread locker or superglue to lock them into place.

Hi Bruce, would you have a replacement for part # F3F-U8K1L-11-00 (GPS Antenna Cover only)? My boat is a 2018 242 Limited E-Series and it seems to be slightly different from this part (F2D-U8K1L-00-00).

@lzoccoli, I was unaware if the 2018s being different. Could you post pictures of what you have?

Just sent a payment for this base and a cover too.
