@OCMD - yeah, we're on the same page from what you and the others have told me - in a Yamaha, no worries (ok, not as many! Still have to be careful.). My point was more in reference to an o/b or even worse, an i/o. Up at the north end (Little Assawoman and Massey Cut), I've encountered more than one spot where the chart says 4' at low tide and it was more like 2' at high tide.

I wouldn't go up there in mine. If I ran aground that means my whole.boat is beached whereas my I/O would have touched down in deeper water not allowing me to get too far up on the sand bar. At least with the I/O my boat was still floating and the drive was just in the sand.

Also if you beach your whole hull and you try to power off, you're going to foul up your wear ring and might get cavitation on acceleration. That's something I'm dealing now from a bad experience at low tide on the tip of assateague. I had to stay under power because the current was trying to throw me into the jetty.

Make no mistake. It's still a boat and you still need to be cautious in 2-3 ft areas.
