I need help with or maybe someone knows about how to reset the "check engine/starboard engine" light on the connext system or only the dealership can do it? I have searched the forum everywhere and can't really find anything other than you need the yamaha software or take it to the dealership.

A couple of weeks ago we took the boat out for a day at the lake. Boat started right up at home, and again before launch and warmed it up after launch. Upon leaving no wake zone started to accelerate slowly and at about 4k rpm there was a slight hesitation and the boat kept pulling and all of a sudden A loud steady alarm and the check engine starboard engine light came on the connext display, so I slowly powered down to idle and listened to both motors and they were idling normally, both pee-holes flowing water so I shut off motors. I turned on both ignitions but didn't start motors, connext booted up and everything looked normal. So I started port engine and it starts fine, I start starboard engine and after start I get the steady tone alarm and check starboard engine light is on but engine is idling normal and both pee-holes flowing water. I do this several times and it's the same results so I say screw it and punch it and it takes off so I slow down to cruising speed but the constant alarm is louder than the motors so I say something is wrong.

By now I'm worried and wonder if I can make it back to the ramp, so the wife calls our dealership and they try to help troubleshoot the problem and determined it might be just an O2 sensor. He asks if there is any reduction of power? I say no, boat pulls hard just like normal. He says yes it sounds like O2 sensor and tells me some tricks to reset ECU by trying the following:
5 to 10 key cycles connext boot up cycles, no start engines, completely on, completely off.
5 to 10 key cycles start engines, idle for 5 minutes turn off engines and wait 3 minutes between engine starts.
Turn off batteries for 1/2 hour and check for alarm.
Disconnect battery pos/neg cables for 1/2 hour then reconnect and check for alarm.
If none of that works need to bring in to shop for scan and remove with yamaha software. $$$
I tried all of the above several times at home on the hose and nothing worked so a trip to dealership might be the next stop.

In the end they said it wouldn't hurt anything so long as I didn't have any reduction in power and to bring in boat as soon as possible and to go enjoy the lake, so I did and boat ran fine as normal, no overheating, both pee-holes flowing.

I did notice at end of day starboard engine used more fuel than port engine so it makes sense about O2 sensor fault and running rich?
** I also noticed that when I start starboard engine it goes ....beep...beep..beeeeeeeeepp...
I can't find anything that says 2 beeps followed by a steady beep is a certain code on connext.
Any ideas???

Here are diagnostic screen shots of that day.

Sorry, I just found Sotally Tober's post and sounds like he had the same symtoms and his turned out to be an O2 sensor on Port engine and his screen actually showed the YDIS code:202 on his diagnostic screen. I am wondering if my O2 sensors are still good with the hesitation at take off and hopefully just needs to be reset by dealership???

Just in case someone needed a reference or a visual. The numbers written down are not the correct part numbers but is what is stamped on the sensors. Can't believe what they want for these things and that people are frequently replacing them, I thought these last for a 100k miles???
Looks like the pre-cat is the culprit...20230116_130733.jpg20230116_124249.jpg20230116_124228.jpg20230116_124122.jpg20230116_124111.jpg20230116_124029.jpg20230116_124024.jpg20230116_123951.jpg20230116_123938.jpg

Yup... had the same problem. Called M2O Marine in San Diego (Yamaha Dealership) and they help me diagnose the issue being a O2 sensor. I used the boat for about 20 more hours before I had a chance to bring it in for servicing. It was covered under warranty and was a quick simple fix. In and out.

Dealership mentioned that this is a COMMON problem and they replace them all the time.

Congrats on the sale of your boat! On to the next one!!!
Yeah I tried all the tricks with no luck, searched everywhere on how to bypass alarm without cutting wire but no dice. That alarm sound is louder than than the motors!!!
Off to see Brett tomorrow, I hope it's an easy fix and he goes easy on the wallet...
