Hello All,
i am interested in a New 2019 Yamaha 242 E- Series S. It’s still on a dealership lot!! How much negotiating room do you think there is? I don’t want to offer a totally ridiculous price, but also want to try for a decent deal since it’s a 2019. Share your opinions!!
Thanks!

I would suggest a very reasonable price but try to get as many accessories thrown in... vests, cover, extended warranty, anchor, fire extinguisher Just a few to mention. Maybe suggested the first maintenance be free also. And also make sure ne knows you want to do a test ride pre delivery

If they want to move it, you should be able to get 11% off msrp (that’s dealer invoice), with a safety kit thrown in. Also ask for anything else you want at their cost (cover, service, etc). Unfortunately, some dealers look at any interested buyer as someone who’s willing to pay full price. If they don’t immediately bite, work a deal with someone else. Be willing to drive several hours for the right deal.

There was a $3k MSRP price increase between MY19 and MY20. My guess is that you should be able to get that 19 242LSE for about $66k ( out the door ) PLUS a few goodies thrown in (because I did) ? I ended up with a total of 4 years on the factory warranty (YES). Happy negotiating.

Have you worked much with a salesperson at that dealer? If not, call and ask for the sales manager, tell him exactly what you're looking for, ask him for his best price.

If he's busy, ask when's a good time to call them back.

You can get his best price, you can get some service/accessories thrown in, but you can't get both! Depending on how they want their books to look, they might prefer to lean one way or another.

Call around first to other dealers say 10hr drive away to see what their price would be. I'd deal local for a grand or two more.

My 2019 (bought feb 2020) was 13% below list, plus delivery fee, with $1800 (cad) of accessories thrown in.

I'm currently looking also... Question. If one is able to negotiate whatever % off of the 2019 MSRP, do you still get the $$$ off with Yamaha financing?

I have asked that exact question to the dealer and actually have not gotten a response to that question, despite asking twice!

Well, just as a guide, I bought mine new just before Memorial Day......new model and the worst time to try to get a deal. So I paid MSRP....BUT....the dealer threw in 3 years extended warranty (not sure of the value, but expensive), a Yamaha deluxe cover ($800), deluxe anchor kit ($150), and a fire extinguisher. So you should be able to get some kind of break either price or accessories. Good luck!

I purchased mine in Sept. of last year. Right after the Yamaha dealer show when the 2020 models were released. I wanted to see the new color schemes and graphics but ultimately decided I liked the gray over black (only available in 2019) best of all. My dealer had sold all of his inventory of 2019s. After a few days of making phone calls he found what he told me was the last gray one in a ten state area in St. Charles , Mo. He sent one of his people in a pickup to haul it back to Lexington. At the time there was a $3k factory rebate on cash deals OR special term financing. I was not interested in financing so opted for the rebate. I really believe my dealer is one of the best and as I posted in another thread , a bunch of really GREAT people. I'm sure you're going to love your boat.

So latest prices I am getting from Texas dealers who have any inventory left

2020 242 SE ($76K) $83K out of the door including Freight and upgraded aluminum trailer.
2020 242 XE ($83K) $89.5K out of the door.
2020 242 S $77.5 out of the door.

Pretty much as is-no throwing in anything :)

Seems like a pretty bad time to buy new right now. Agree?

So the dealer in Pickwick was $81k out the door for a 20' SE, taxes and everything. I ended up with a 19' SE for $68k out the door with Alabama taxes which were 4%. I had to pay the remaining 3% of taxes here in Tennessee, so I was a tick over $71k all in. Dealer in Alabama had no freight and prep was $360. They threw in Yamaha mooring cover and Yamaha starter kit. Wouldn't budge off price, but about $1k in throw ins. I think the best time to buy was late March early April... I could be wrong though. As the country continues to open up, maybe there will be less deals to be had.

X1000

I tried too late in April and all the 19" were gone. Yamaha expected a recession and were surprised by new sales, hence the special offers.
When I tried it was 1k off or warranty with deferred 90 days with 3.99. or 60M 1.99
Production stopped and dealer inventory is only inventory until 2021. Looks like 2020 boats had limited run.

Ended up getting used 2014. I'll see what I do next year and know this one paid and can make my money back.
Expand your area, you may get help from someone on here. I'm helping someone now from Alabama buy a 2010 242 I had heard about during my search for SX190

Either way you will be happy. There are beautiful
