Here is a great trash can idea for the storage compartment.

In addition to the can I used two 3/4" 8-32 screws, two washers, and two nylock nuts. I first tried a 1" screw and and it was to long. It prevented the lid from opening. The 3/4" screws are a little short so there isn't a lot of nylon in contact with the screw. Ideally use a 1" screw and cut off the excess.

Be sure when you are laying out the holes to drill, make sure the can will clear the edge of the compartment. The can needs to hug the hinged side a little.

Great idea. Looks like it would do the trick.
