How to check if the coolant pump is working.
I was out on the boat and the thick hose at the bottom of the coolant tank came off at the engine end and I overheated.
Got towed in!!!!
The next day I put the hose back on the nipple at the engine end (what a mission, you have to push the hose in....clamp down the clamp and if its not on the perfect spot at the nipple the hose will pop off!!!)

The rear hose gets hot so the thermostat is working.
The ride plate gets hot so the coolant is there.
But I keep on overheating in less than 4 minutes and the coolant bottle gets very hot.
So I'm thinking that the pump is not moving the coolant to the ride plate to cool.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you....

How old is the antifreeze? And type? I assume you adjusted the reservoir level after losing some coolant?

Hey Luc
I did not see your reply yesterday.
I had Orange BRP coolant in it.
After connecting the hose back, I went and got 6 qt of Orange BRP coolant.
After burping it etc. it took 5 qt of coolant.
So, the coolant is brand new.
Thanks

Maybe others will have some more ideas... but based on this, possibly the head gasket. It could have pushed that hose off due to excess pressure/heat. Typically, it will come out of the overflow hose of the reservoir if it's a head gasket. But if the hose was already borderline coming off, the pressure could have pushed it off.

Head gaskets don't fail usually on a 2016 boat, but it is possible.
