I have decided to part with my 2018 242 Limited SE. My question is how to value and sell the boat. It has less than 80 hours and is extensively modified with Lectrotab trim tabs, CobraJet fins to make it run strait, a Garmin GPS/Fishfinder in console. It is black and white. I live in Cape Coral Forida, I run on saltwater but it is kept on a lift and well maintained. It has the usual minor dock rash but is in beautiful condition. Should I hire an appraiser/surveyor or a broker? Thanks for the input.

Start with NADA boat prices and work with those numbers. Of course you could sell it for higher or lower, but it will be a good starting point. Perhaps adjust for additions. Also look on Facebook Marketplace and Boat Trader to see what other boats like yours are selling for. The modifications only really add value if the buyer sees value in them. I wouldn't waste time or money on a broker or appraiser. If the boat is solid it will sell. The value will go up the closer it gets to the spring and true boating season usually. Also it will depend on the amount current used inventory of similar boats to yours, that is available in the market right now in your area.

Around here since it is winter, used boats took a good shave, some up to 10% and are still listed.

I agree with @HangOutdoors, start with NADA (when you do this keep in mind the standard trailer comes with the boat and is not valued as an option.) That said, an alumium trailer would definately add value to the boat. My personal opinion is that the options you list don't really affect the value of the boat, especially electronics as they depreciate pretty quickly.

NADA still reflects dealer COVID pricing, so my personal opinion is that prices are high for private sale. However, its probably better to set the sale price higher and then drop it if you need to.

70k ish in Florida. BMC Boats in Longwood had the same boat listed for 80k a few weeks ago. They have a 2016 SX 240 for 57k which is more then it sold for in 2016. 75k is not out of the question.

Without a trailer, to me, that knocks $3 - 5K off the value of the boat. Hopefully, you can sell it locally to someone with a lift who doesn't need a trailer.

I'd do the work and figure out where to get the correct size trailer and bunk placement, that way you don't alleniate any buyers that intend to tow it....
This is a great idea! :winkingthumbsup"

Trailer's not going to happen. Rather take the hit.

I think the suggestion was to "Figure out" where to get it. (not to actually have you buy it, but at least have a solid suggestion on an "easy" way to make it happen.)

70k a few months ago seemed right. Without trailer and in winter, I would think low-mid 60s. 70 is probably a good starting place if not in a rush to sell. Might get a taker. Put it on FaceBook/Boat Trader before going through a broker.
