Hyperlite Quad

I purchased a hyperlite quad and was finally able to use it this weekend. It feels slower than my cheaper hyperlite broadcast. I rode boards back to back and old broadcast always felt faster and rode better.
Quad has a matte finish and the broadcast is gloss, could that be it?
Guys/gals with the quad do you run all 4 fins?
