Hello everyone!
I am somewhat getting back into wakeboarding after about 18 years since I last rode one. My nephew found my old board and wants to try it out, and I'd like to get up again as well. My old bindings disintegrated so I've bought new hyperlite remix bindings.
Basically, I am wondering if my old, apprimately 1999, Hyperlite charge 147cm is decent enough for us to keep using. I know that may seem like a, "if it's not broke don't fix it!", type question... But I see that boards are potentially cheaper than the bindings I just bought and if a new board would make an impact, I'd probably splurge.
Link to the same board as current one. https://offerup.com/item/detail/a1eb7e43-0bae-35ba-b87b-87a8a7b894a6
Quick backstory of my wake history, I've never been very good. I could do grabs and jump the wake. Pulled a 360 every now and then if I landed it, but far from consistent. Aside from that I was far from doing any flips or even close to competitive. Rode basically every weekend for 3 Canadian summers, last being 2001 maybe.
-me, male 39yo, 5' 10", 220 lbs.
-my nephew male 13yp, 5' 7", maybe 140lbs.
I know the board of a bit big for him, I'm more curious if new boards would have significant better carving/stability or weight or anything else I dunno. Or new fins? Etc.
Thank you! Cheers!
