The last two seasons we've done exactly this for like 95% of our boating. It's a quick 10-15min ride to the cove, sit for 3-4hrs at anchor, then 10-15min back to the ramp.

We cruised around a LOT more before the baby was here. Did a LOT more watersports before the baby as well. We expect the fun to return once he's old enough to not fall out on his own . First time on the water was 6wks old. He's 15mo now. Will be 2 at the start of next season, so we hope he's got his sea legs figured out by then and doens't require constant attention from an adult to remain safe. Once he can sit and stay for some period of time we'll be back to tubing and skating.

We used to use the tube as an "island" of sorts, but the 7yr old has been requesting the big disc instead of the tube lately. Says it's more fun. It packs down smaller, but takes more effort to inflate. He does the Jump off the boat onto the disc, reel him self in, and repeat.......for hours on end.

I'll be honest. I feel like the worst jetboat owner ever!!! The wife and I will take the boat out, a mild 25-30 MPH..... get to a good location, turn the boat off and literally just float down the river in the boat for the next 2-3 hours. Motor back to the marina and call it a good day of boating!!!! Everyone at work says I should have just got a pontoon boat for all the floating we do as compared to actual boating!

The first boat my parents ever owned was a 26' or 27' Sea Ray in the early 80's. They used to do the exact same thing. We would cruise south to the mouth of Lake Erie, cut the engines and slowly drift in the lake. Nothing wrong with that. Your boat, your life, just have fun!

We do the same thing. I motor a bit at 30mph, maybe 3 miles. anchor, float and come home 3 hours later. this is my 5th summer and I have 166 hours and 1800 miles.

When my boys were younger we did a lot more skiing/tubing. Not so much now that they're older. The boat is mainly a platform for the Waverunner. We have a few favorite spots to and usually head straight for one. The boys take turns on the ski all day.
