I need some advise....

Anyone that has had the pleasure of meeting @bobbie and Morgan should count themselves lucky. Two of the most friendly, nice, helpful, and honest people you will ever meet. Very glad to call myself one of their friends. I think a move to either place would be cool, plus you would be closer for us to drive to actually be able to visit with.

I'm originally from sarasota.fl for you don't mind putting you boat in salt water is an awesome place to boat. The water is like bath temperature in the summertime and great restaurants the best of everything at your finger tips. No State tax either.

I know I'll love Austin. My brother has been there for 20+ years and we go down quite often. That's why it's at the top of the list....

Awww @jcyamaharider . We love you guys! Believe me...I already Googled Austin to Shelbyville!

Hey Bobbie,

I actually did a similar move to what you're talking about doing. I spend my entire life in the PNW (raised in Vancouver, WA) and spent 10 years in Seattle. I came down to Austin to visit a friend and was hooked. Ended up moving down to Austin in 2011. It was one of the best decisions I've made.

I recently moved about an hour north of Austin area (near Lake Belton) because I couldn't/didn't want to spend the kind of money they wanted for a house in the Austin proper. You can find some reasonable houses but are usually further north or south of where the action is.

I type of lakes I grew up with are not the same lakes you'll get down here. Don't get me wrong, the lakes down here are really nice but not the deep crystal clear water you get a lot of times in the PNW. One of the first things I bought for my boat (wakeboard boat at the time) was an anchor because people here like to anchor out (including myself) turn up the music and open their coolers. You can easily boat 9 months of the year (we actually boat all year round) and partake in some of the best live entertainment and food anywhere.

@SeanPC I was raised in camas, WA!! I'm sure you could the smell drifting from camas to Vancouver! Thanks for the info. Since you know know the pnw you're words are appreciated!

@bobbie Small world for sure. Lol...yep never forget that smell. Used to go to Top Burger (if I recall the name right) when in Camas. I actually grew up in Hockinson, WA if you know where that is. We used to houseboat on Lake Shasta every year..didn't know how good we had it until we moved.

@SeanPC yep!! Top burger is still there. I meet my sister and brother in law to jetski at lacamas lake. We always hit top burger afterward. And yes...I played softball as a kid and we would go up to hockinson for games! You should really get to Shelbyville this year...not too bad of a drive even if you come without a boat!

Siesta Key! Beautiful beaches in that area. I want to move to Florida. Some of our friends parents are building a house right now in Siesta Key off a Channel of water.

Just to clarify, the current college national champs are in South Carolina and 3 hours away from Lake Murray. Yes I am a Gamecock fan but Clemson did our state proud. :winkingthumbsup"

To further clarify Clemson won with a coach with deep Alabama roots. Dabo was born and grew up a local here then later played at Bama. So even though Clemson won, there will always be a little part of Bama in that trophy :D. We are proud of him here in the state of Alabama

@Andy S columbia, sc is now on my list. I like college town, state capital, and really low housing. How humid is it in the summer....I'm not used to any in the pnw!

You should still give Ttown a look IMO and there's nothing wrong with surfing on Lake Tuscaloosa or any of the other local lakes and bodies of water (several choices in Bama). I mean it is called Title Town after all :winkingthumbsup"

Don't worry @bobbie, you get used to sweating before you can get to the car 8 months out of the year. ;)

If you're not used to humidity I don't think you can escape it anywhere in the south. Look at it this way, your skin will always be moist and soft hehe.

I'm not going to lie to you I gets hot and humid here. When Lou Holts took over as the head football coach he said he now knows what hell feels like. During the heat we spend a lot of time in the lake, in the mountains, or at the coast. Just like any weather conditions, in time you will get accustom to it.

lol it's no joke. I live in Georgia and to me South Carolina is much worse. We were in Charleston a few summers ago and I couldn't even walk outside without pouring sweat and this was at night. Georgia is humid too, but not nearly as bad at the Charleston area.

What are you talking about @bobbie you have 100% humidity in Portland, it is called rain!

Well.....ya'll (see how fast i pick it up) have me a bit scared of the humidity!

But @haknslash, i did go to visit @Bill for a little oil change tutorial and spend a quick minute to visit t-town!
