I stole boat crazy ideas and Mels table mount mod. Basically I put some clear suction cup holders on the door and some shelving in there to rid some of the clutter.

I like that! What did you use as mounting hardware for the shelves and clear plastic organizer? That's exactly what I had in mind.

I used house cable ties( electrical dept) for the shelf I hung and I used stainless screws with the white head covers for the clear plastic shoe shelves. I bought about 90 percent at lowes. I should have sprayed the cable ties white, maybe I will do that next winter.

I love seeing another table storage inside like that...have you used it yet @jcyamaharider ? It is very handy to get in and out! I would do the same mod on any Yamaha! Speaking of...if I buy another, wtf...I am going to have my hands full explaining why I have to start my mods over again! At least I have experience and don't have to procrastinate as long!

I have not used it on the water yet Mel but it is much easier to get in and out of the closet. Time will tell this summer.

We loved it, it was one of our best mods! Easy to reach, easy to return...just way better than anywhere else it had been. Just think, no moving everything in the compartment to get it out of the back wall tray! My money is on your enjoying the new location! Isn't it great that you can cherry pick the best mods and get the benefit of first hand before you do one! I loved that about our group. I kind of got lucky on the paper towel mod, shelves, and table storage. I will duplicate all of that again if I get another Yammi.

I have had mine installed for 3 years now, and have no indication of any rust (I have not picked it up from storage this year yet, but do not see that being a problem). See topic head storage 240 series.

Yep! I was just looking at that thread, I have a load of that material downstairs that I didn't end up using for another project. Didn't even think about it...

Your option, however, the shelf is easy to remove after removing the storage items. You could get a dozen painted ones for the price of (1) stainless one. I would try the painted one for at least a year.

The biggest trick is constructing the mount ends at the obscure angle that they attach to the wall and fastening to the shelf. I used PVC plywood and while it is waterproof, it is somewhat flimsy and needs a 90 degree shelf edge stiffener. You can't glue it and have to depend on mechanical fasteners, but it won't rust and will support a bunch of storage. The retail shelf material is way cheaper and less headache to construct, but it all depends on what you want. If your only storing towels and other large items, it is fine, and if it rusts, paint the ends or replace...

Where did you get the suction cup clear plastic things (if you remember?) and how did you get them to stick? Did they stick on their own, or did you apply a glue to get them to stay?

I got one at Wal-mart, it sticks to my door pretty good on its own, it doesn’t stay forever but it lasts all day.
