Not my video. The old timers will recognize it. It is worth your time.

By the way, there was a copywrited song attached to it when I downloaded it years ago. I had You Tube remove it.

Was this for durability testing? What a fun job that could be. "Hey, take this boat out and see if you can kill it."

how did that guy survive? cuz even with little bit of a chop, it sends a huge shock throughout the whole boat.

I believe it was testing for the tower and hull on the 2008 212X prior to it being turn over to production. I recall someone saying they took it out while a hurricane was moving in. Some where in that video they did manage to break the tower. There is also someone with a 232 who knows how to properly beach a boat.

Great video. I remember that one, glad that you managed a way to revive it.

Very cool, did Yamaha release this as a marketing video?

Effing AWESOME!
Was it the Bimini run? Which year was that? Last year was not that crazy.

@swatski if you look closely on that poor quality video you will see that 212X has no seats other than the captains chair. They put some kind of stress sensors near the tower mounts.
@Bruce I recall Yamaha not being pleased that the video made it to the public.

You can not duplicate that kind of stress test in a lab. The test pilot is nuckin futs. All my unhinged seat cushions would have been in the surf after the first couple jumps.

I think that seats are overrated, especially in 190s ;)

Incredible!!! Those were some seriously large waves and one hell of a test. Yamaha should be proud.

Looks like a giant PWC.

If the boat (or ski) comes down on it's tail, as most of the time in the video, the shock isn't too great. When jumping my ski on the ocean if I came down with the hull parallel to the water surface it would be a very hard landing. If I came down with the tail first it was almost smooth. I could wrestle the ski into a tail down position most of the time; no such action with a boat.

Pretty painful to watch with all those random edits - but proof that even our wafer thin hulls can withstand more abuse then the people on board!

I wonder how many times the lanyard became unattached.
