If you use an anchor don't use this clamp

(Shackle + 4' chain rode) + (3/1 [minimum] line scope) = stable anchor
Obviously must have sufficient anchor for the vessel.
My dad boated on salt water for his entire life (he was piloting his boat, "Bride II" just a couple weeks before he died) and he never had a serious maritime problem he couldn't handle. He taught us kids with a firm, patient hand that the water is no place for equipment problems....
"the water is full of surprises and well maintained and outfitted equipment is key to staying ahead when the water throws you a curve...."
"know your equipment what it will do and what it won't..."
"the water doesn't care about you..."
Just some of Dad's favorite maritime maxims...he never lost a boat or a crew member.

Sorry, soap box...obviously I have equipment issues....
