It is nothing new. I feel certain that has been the gap for a while but it may have decreased due to the housing swelling.Don't know till you run it for sure!
My thoughts exactly, good deal.Less gap, if not rubbing constantly, is better anyways I would think. Less gap means less cavitation.
However, you can always check for the corrosion.
