I know there was a thread about a year ago on this topic but never concluded. Has anybody had to replace this bearing? It appears to me that since I am replacing the impeller wear ring and have the jet pump off and shaft out. I should be able to just pull the bearing out the hull without pushing the motor forward. Does this sound about right?

It's a different job from the pump parts outside the boat (pump bearings, impeller, wear ring). Unless you are seeing water leaking from the intermediate bearing, I would not worry about it. The internal bearings are hermetically sealed--the grease you add is just to keep water out.

But if you did need to change, I would unbolt the motor from the motor mounts, disconnect the exhaust, and then push the motor forward enough to separate the PTO couplers, then you can remove the intermediate housing with the three (3) 12mm bolts. You can opt to rebuild the bearing housing (cheaper, but more work), or buy a new assembled intermediate housing from SBT. Either way you'll need a hydraulic press to remove/insert the intermediate shaft.
