Took the family down for spring break. 762 miles from the house, but we had a great time. Stayed 1/2 the time in Key Largo and 1/2 the time in Islamorada. Look forward to doing it again next year.

Got out to Largo Dry Rocks on Monday and was snorkeling around looking for the Christ of the Abyss statue, when a t-storm popped up and we had to run back to the hotel. Had plans to run out to Alligator Reef but Friday morning came with a small craft advisory and gusts to 20kts. We called it and headed home.

All in all, we had a great time. Really sucks not getting out to Alligator, but took the advice Monday of a local that told me there was no way he would go out there in that small a boat. We heeded the warning but seas were under 1’ that day. Rest of the week they were 2-3’ and wind was creating a bunch of chop. Talked to the dive Shop and the folks there told me we should have run out Monday, there would have been no problems.

We tried to make the run Thursday and got out to Chicken and Hens, it was a little too dicey and pretty sure I would have at least one crew member sick before it was over. Rolled up to the sandbar and called it a day.

Looks awesome. Was in Marathon and KW in January (without the boat) and have been dreaming about hauling it down ever since. Looks like you all had a great time! Did you have house/hotel with a dock or have the launch and retrieve each time? Trying to recon for a future trip. Thanks.

Both places we stayed had the option of reserving dock space. Creekside Inn at Taviner Cut was really great for easy access to all the things.
