I will be spending a few days with my Navy buddies at The Isle of Palms in SC. I think I might be driving there with another buddy from Dallas, so since I’m driving I thought about bringing my jet ski. There is a ramp to the inner coastal right by our house and the inlet is right by the marina. So it’s perfect for bringing a jet ski. The question is, is it legal to ride a jet ski in the ocean off shore and also would we be able to beach the ski?

We will be there early May, so there should not be much of a crowd.

Yes it is legal, but beaching it depends on local laws. Usually the buoys will tell you if you can go in or not.

Yes to riding in the ocean. I'm pretty sure you can't beach on the public beaches here on the ocean side but plenty of little islands with beaches you can beach on. Lots to explore by water what days are you coming in May we are downing our lock run in May as well you guys would enjoy that we usually have 4-6 skis join us.

I've had lifeguards yell at me down in San Diego. I think you need to be 200' from the nearest swimmer. I wouldn't think about beaching unless the waves were tiny. Even then it's anchor in a few feet of water . Protip: make sure you hit the wave before it begins to lip . You'll catch the most air seconds before it lips.

Cant beach here in the sf bay per local ordanences.
