Looking for recommendations- I keep my Scarab on a lift, on a brackish creek about 5 miles from my house so don't have access to fresh water flush after each use. I've been pumping fresh water from a 10 gallon plastic tank, with a portable pump - gotta be someone with a better idea! Thanks

Doesn't that have a closed loop cooling system so all you need to do is flush the muffle as that uses exterior water and rinse the outside of the pump with some water or coat it with white lithium grease to protect it from the brackish water. I

Thanks for your response. Yes, it is a closed loop cooling system. However, getting varying guidance on flushing - some say "a couple times each summer ", while others recommend after each use, due to being in salt or brackish water. How do I flush just the muffle?

What does the owners manual recommend?

Your flush hose does the muffler only , be careful running that boat on a hose as the carbon seal on the driveshaft can get hot quickly and wear out or fail from that,

Owners Manual says after each use, if in saltwater or foul water (assume that would include brackish). I'm hoping that one of you clever boaters have an easier approach to flush!

What other options are there, other than via a hose? That's what both the dealer and manual recommend.

Water tank and a pump or a gravity feed tank.

Can you set up some sort of rain barrel to collect water? I do not think flushing the muffler is as critical as flushing the oil cooler and cylinder water jackets that cause overheating problems in Yamahas. My Yamaha muffler has never been a problem. I have not observed any serious salt corrosion. If you can figure out a way to get a couple of gallons through it after use, I think you will be alright.

Add a ZINC anode to the pump area also since you are in brackish water. any size or shape will do Also spray the engine and pump with white lithium grease
