Just finished replacing the keel guard on my Sugar Sand, pulling the old one is hard enough and scraping the foam under it is a real project but last layer of adhesive is a nightmare. Tried everything in my shop, acetone, alcohol, xylol, a couple of adhesive removers and any thing else I could find, all with poor results, then figuring what the hell I tried a can of carb cleaner. Bingo, turned it into a 15-20 minute job. Active ingredients are acetone, petroleum distillates,[whatever that consists of] and Toluene. I know it wasn't the acetone so maybe the toluene? Had no ill affects on the gel coat that I could tell

Thats what i had used as well. Worked great
I used my heat gun to get the majority of the goo off with a plastic scraper

If you ever need to remove another keel guard or hydroturf/seadek consider using one or a few of these. Unfortunately I didn’t discover how useful this is until I was about done stripping hydroturf and a keel guard off a few months ago.

Are you able to cut keel guard? My upper part of bow is scratched from previous owner probably hitting dock...ive attached a picture maybe you guys can recommend something. I will be buying keel guard as well but was wondering if i can cut it to attach upper part.MVIMG_20190630_145545.jpg

You can cut it, it's just tough vinyl(?) like was used on some car bumpers. Think I would just repair the gel coat though

Pulled my 12ft off yesterday, not to bad,

Started at the bow, grabbed each side with vice grips and steady pressure of my weight peeled it off, under the boat using the trailer cross beam to anchor my legs and push,
It left a thick adhesive that i took 95% off with a razor window scraper, the final 5% cleanup a left for @Betik
