To all,

I was thinking of taking the family for a day of boating, tubing, and beaching on Lake Houston. I have never boated there before. So I don't really know much about the best boat ramps to use (I have 2021 Yamaha 210 FSH Deluxe) OR the best sandy areas to beach the boat and enjoy the day. I tried searching on the forum for this info but couldn't find it. And I have searched on Google for a bit but can't really find the information I wanted based on what I want to do.

What we want to do is launch on a low/no-cost boat ramp that isn't too far away from a sandy shore line that I can pull the boat up and setup a site for the day. Are there many sandy shorelines that one would call a "beach" on Lake Houston? Preferably, I would want to stick to a boat ramp closer to hwy 1960 but I am open to driving to a ramp that is close to the beach location.

Also, I would like to know any restaurants/bars that we could dock our boat at to eat as an alternate thing to do instead of beaching.

Or, if anyone else has other info on Lake Houston that I haven't thought of (like different ideas on boating there besides beaching) then I am open to those and they are appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

I am over near Lake Conroe and have never been on Houston... But haven't seen any sandy areas from the shores...

Here is ramp info: Lake Houston Access

I used to live on lake Houston in Huffman. We had a ramp in our neighborhood, The Commons of Lake Houston (George Foreman lives there), so I have not used any of the public ones. We were on the east fork of the San Jacinto river. The Cedar, it may have changed hands since I lived there (2000-2002), is a good lake front restaurant that has a dock. It is a shallow lake but you should be fine. There are a few islands and some sandy beach areas on the river, east and west forks of the San Jacinto. @tdonoughue listed the public ramps. I had a Yamaha XL 1200 and had a blast on Lake Houston and running up the rivers.

I live in the commons on lake houston. There is a great white sand beach in a no wake zone up the east fork that has 100 or so boats beached every weekend. There are 2 restaurants on the lake with docks, shark eyes on the west fork and lake houston brewery on thh east side at the 1960 bridge. You can put in right at 1960 on the easier at a little marina/campground. Before I moved to the commons I used it and I think it was $5 or $10 bucks for the day. The beach I spoke of is about a 5-10 minute boat ride up the east fork from this ramp. It’s a shallow lake but I run everywhere in my 242 and there are a ton of yamahas on it. Come enjoy.

Thanks for everyone's input. I appreciate the help. This is good information and will use it. I'll post some pics of our fun day soon. Yall have a good one.
