I took the family out tubing in the local cove today. 3rd time taking her out & we were left getting towed across the cove to the dock!!!!
Took me 6 hours on her for my 1st disaster!!!
The bracket the holds the port side engines air clearer on disappeared in the engine bay somewhere!! That left a sensor of some sorts to break & fail (see pic)
Not sure why I couldn't switch to single engine & limp across on the starboard engine??
Boat ran like a dream until we stopped to switch tubers. Shut it down for safety & that was it. Never got any engine faults either!!!

Dang that sucks. Hopefully it’s an easy fix!

That is very strange. You would think just come back on the other engine. Sorry to hear that.

It seems that when the filter became loose it pulled the top of the crankcase ventilation valve, the valve also has a switch/sensor to detect if the boat is capsized (TOPS) that would shut you down if triggered (something more for jet skis but here we have it). You may want to replace it since it appears from the picture that the spring loaded valve is missing (should have been in the other chamber of the valve). Should be a simple fix as far as the picture goes, good luck!

Nothing seems easy this year for boating! Hard enough to get a phone call returned!!
My closest dealer is A&S in South Windsor, CT. I've spoken on the phone to several people there, they seem helpful. Anyone use them as their go to?

Thanks!

My 243 VRX is still on the shop for what was supposed to be a "simple" fix. The dealership & BRP don't seem to know what the spring was that was in that hole. The dealership says BRP can't even find it on their parts list. The dealership opened the starboard side motor & said there was no spring in there!!!! Does this make any sense???

Thanks for any insite

See below the picture which shows the valve components inside, my comment was that from your picture in this thread it appeared the spring loaded check valve was missing. That spring is not a part you can buy in the catalog, you would have to replace the entire valve assembly if its missing/broken, not a big deal. I know the spring is there in my boat, I can tell you that much.

The picture below shows the valve upside down, it is also showing the non-cat version of the valve which has a 90 degree exit on top, the cat version would be straight exit. When the valve is upside down as in the picture the large piston separates from the sensor and kills the engine, which I suppose got stuck on your boat somehow and was preventing you to enter limp mode (just guessing).

You can also see that when the valve is upside down, it also closes the oil gas passages to isolate the engine. The spring loaded valve releases any excess pressure in the engine if necessary.

I can't say whether in your particular boat BRP decided to use another version without the spring loaded check valve, but I would be doubtful.

That would explain why the starboard motor was tripped at the breaker and wouldn't start back up. I thought I had checked that but but being A newb maybe not.
It is hard to believe that BRP would only put that spring in 1 motor!? I will pass this info on to my shop though.

Thank you for all you help!

The circuit breaker was tripped? This should not cause a circuit breaker trip.

That's what the service rep said. I got nothing from either engine on the water. Since I've taken it to the mechanic he has had the starboard engine running saying that it a tripped breaker.
The service rep has ordered the air filter bracket & the 2 bolts that hold that bracket on. He says he's ordered the part to fix the part in the picture. Would that be the entire unit then?

Thanks again!

I would guess, as it is sold as a unit. Sounds like you may have some other issues going on if you are tripping the breaker though.

These guys don't seem to be the sharpest knives but at least its running. With only 30 hours on it I hope there aren't to many issues!!
