Coming from a Tige inboard, I've decided to go Jet. I just sold my 13 Tige R20 and am looking at a 14 AR192 this week. What are some of the things that I should be looking for? I'm a total jet noob. Any issues they are known for? I'll have it on a lift.

I just got sick of worrying about busting a prop on the Tige. I really didn't wake surf much but I see people throwing out some half way decent wakes with certain setups on the 190 series on youtube. Mostly wakeboard but I'm a bigger dude at 6'2 245 and I was worried about wakeboarding behind this boat. I am also worried that I'll miss having a back sundeck.

Thanks

The 190 series throws a pretty weak wakeboard wake. You'll definitely want to add ballast. I just moved to an inboard because of it. They also dont come with a perfect pass type cruise system either, but you can add it for about $1200. Other than that and people capacity, I prefer the jet drive. I dont think you'll miss your sundeck as much as you think. The transom on these boats kicks ass for lounging right at the water level and the large bows make for pretty good sundeck substitute.

Thanks for the response. Yeah I figured I'd have to add ballast, was curious how the boat handles with it though. Also not having a cruise is big for me as the wife will yoyo the **** out of me otherwise...

I had 2-350lb bags, one in each rear storage compartment, and then a 150lb for the bow and that made it fun enough to mess around on. Adding a few people beyond that helped even more. The boat never felt unstable at all with that weight and few bodies. The new swim platform bag seems to be money well spent from the vids and photos I have seen, but I have never tried it personally. Since the boat has nothing sticking down in the water to hold it in place, it will pull a little when cutting hard on a board, but it's not too bad. It slows down quite a bit though if the driver isn't very attentive to speed so that's where cruise is golden. I had a buddy who was around 200lb and 6'2. It took a little longer but the boat pulled him out no problem. At 5'9" and 155lb The boat doesn't even seem to know I'm there until I cut hard.

Have you had a chance to drive one yet?

Good info. No I have not, we don't have a huge amount of jet boats on my lake, though they are getting more popular. It's mostly bigger powerboats, I was the only tige on the lake that I know of. Not to mention since NY is trying to decide between having second spring and monsoon season there's been no boats out.
