Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
What's your goal for the tower speakers? Do you want sound up close to the stern, if so there are plenty of options like the JL setup above. If you want sound projected 80' back Wetsounds REV series is the best option. A good set of tower speakers will take up your entire budget not including an amp.

We love our Wetsounds Stealth 10 Ultra HD soundbar. Ours has an internal amp and has TONS of volume. For $1,500 you could probably get a sound bar and a sub/amp combo. We were only about $500 into a refurb bar from creativeaudio.com been going great for 3 seasons now. Upgraded the cockpit speakers from the POS stockers to some takeouts that people were getting rid of here, and we've got some really good sound (IMO), that didn't cost us a ton of cashola.
Just an alternative to the typical tower speakers only solution.

I am researching as well. From what I have found Wet Sounds and JL appear to be the leading brands for marine audio. I have picked out a shop to do the install. They will do the install in stages if the initial budget doesn't allow all at once. Could easily rum $3-5K. In another thread on the site, it was said that tower speakers were mostly for highs and mid range but if you want overall sound you need a sub and of course an amp.

I can't wait to do the stereo on my new boat, it's going to be nice to not worry about the charging system like you have to on a Yamaha, my new boat has a 190 amp alternator.
Correct, those are the two top brands for sound quality and volume.

Remember that tower speakers are designed to get sound out the back of the boat to the skier or boarder, they're not really intended to put sound into the cockpit of the boat, although they do put some sound in the boat due to proximity, and the farther away you are from the speaker the less bass output you notice due to how low frequencies spread out in an open area. Ever been to an outdoor concert and you're standing several hundred feet away and all you get is mids and highs?
Price depends on your needs/wants...you can spend a few hundred and get decent sound, or a few thousand if you want to go deaf early.

Just remember that typical flooded batteries will NOT accept anywhere near 190a of current to charge fast - they will only accept a specific rate controlled by the charging circuit designed by the manufacturer. Same goes for a car/truck, the alternator can output a rated current, but the battery circuit only allows a max current to charge the battery and reduces as the battery is charged. Your vehicle doesn't charge super fast, it just doesn't use much juice to start the vehicle so it's "fully charged" in 10mins of running the engine, just like starter batteries in boats, they don't take long to recharge. But house batteries can run down much lower and take longer to charge, but they can't charge at very high rates without massive gassing which leads to damage of the cells. Unless your boat comes with a set of high current batteries and charging circuit, you won't get super fast charging rates. You might get faster charge rates than jet boats, but not a massive difference.
My boat with twin engines recharges my start and house batteries (house down to 70%) in about half an hour. A bigger alternator might drop that to 20 mins, but not super fast like 5 mins as the batteries would gas and dry out damaging them prematurely.

I wouldn't go that far - the Powersports/Marine market has exploded in the past few years. They are just by far the most popular, and have a large market share. If budget was no concern I would take the Kicker KMTC11s over REV10s.
To the OP: There are tons of options out there to fit your budget. I didn't see a goal stated or what your system currently consists of.
Creative Audio has quite a few package deals that come in well under your budget. I cannot recommend anything without really knowing more.
