has anyone used this mount for the Magma grills? I'm looking at the kettle grill and don't really want to cut a hole in the boat to mount it. I want to use it in the bow so what size grab rails are in the bow of our Yamahas and is this mount worth a crap?

Drilling holes is fun or at least more fun that installing that mount every time that you want to grill.

But it would give you the ability to use it on any grab handle; if you're tied up with another boat on the port side, grill on the starboard side, or the other way around. and no drilling needed......

I have one; bought it years ago for our large kettle. I wasn't a fan because the nut/cap screw at the lower end of the grill had to be really tight to stop the grill from tipping, and seemed to loosen on its' own. Maybe I just have a bad one, and they aren't all like that.

@bunpy's experience is what I was concerned would happen. It would be easy to really tighten once but adjusting and tighening would be a pain in a temporary setup and you would likely leave marks all over your rails.

Yea, that's what I was worried about too, which is why I posted the question. There's always someone that knows better than I do!

Looks interesting, and it may have enough adjustment to work off of the bow rails.
that does look pretty cool. I could see me dropping the grill in the lake trying to get it on the mount from inside the boat. I'll probably have to drill a hole. I guess that's just the price of hot food on the water; I've gotten REALLY tired of sub sandwiches. Thank you all for your input!

I'm thinking about putting a grill mount in my table , so I can cook on my swim deck and us the table as a prep aria

The magma rod holder mount slides right into the table leg if your willing to use the swim deck which is what I did worked great so far no drilling and pulls out when done.

Will you use the table to eat with the grill attached or will you wait for the grill to cool before eating?

I do like that idea a lot! Most of the action when anchored is at the back of the boat, so I figured the bow would be the best place for the grill (out of the way). I might have to re-think that.

I used a kettle table leg mount from Magma for my old kettle; its out of the way on the side of the swim platform.

I went with drilling at the bow. It was nerve racking cutting a hole in a perfect boat but id do it again. Very pleased with the location and mount. Didnt want a hot grill where we hang out so i did the @Bruce grill idea.
