Minimal white smoke

So we just bought a used (of course) 2015 Yamaha AR192 and took it out a couple time this past weekend. On the second trip noticed some white smoke come out from under the stern. Checked under the engine the next day and I see some residual oil on the floor of the engine compartment. Checked the dipstick and it looks like there’s too much oil. FYI, I’m not a mechanic!!! ? Any advise would be appreciated! TIA...

I just saw this rubber seal come out of the port in the pic. Anyone????

I would look in the air filter case to see if any oil has come through the breather tube.

that's normal, excess sealant from the install, it eventually falls out, just monitor your transom drain and if your bilge runs but nobody has ever reported any additional problems,

You definitely want to figure out where the oil is coming from, even if you let it leak at least your aware of the problem,

check your manual for proper procedure to check the oil, on our older boats they often were overfilled when people would check them on the trailer cold, not sure about your engine so always go to the manual,

as for the smoke, if it was white it could have been steam, next time I'd jump in the water and see if I could tell what hole it was coming out of to determine, exhaust or thermostat line,

Was the white smoke constant or just a brief period of smoke? A little bit of white smoke on occasion isn't a huge concern, sometimes it seems like my exhaust will blow out a bit of condensation or steam. Burning oil would typically be blueish. That port is your engine exhaust, the sealant probably just came loose and blew out.

It’s was just for a about a min or two. It stopped after we started back into dock. I appreciate the info!

If you have too much oil in the crankcase, the easiest thing to do is get yourself an oil extractor pump (you can use it for DIY oil changes), then pump about 6-8 oz out. I'd do this when the boat is level ad when they aren't it can throw your readings off. Also check your owners manual as some of these engines need checked while warm and some when cold is OK.
