I have a 2018 AR19. It ran great when I dropped it off at the marina (a Yamaha dealer) for winterization. They put my boat in (a week late) because they don’t have enough staff. I was told my boat has a loud knock and water is pouring into the bilge. I have not been offered access to my boat as it is in a rack 30ft up. They tell me Yamaha has only one certified mechanic for the entire New England Region. My season is most likely done, before it ever started. The Yamaha dealer told me I am lucky, that I may get my boat in for service this season.

So here I am, I get it no one wants to do the dirty work. I am very capable, I have knowledge and capability to do this myself, I assume, the intermediate bearing is gone. I have always run antifreeze through the boat ever fall. Yamaha says that is not necessary. I let Yamaha winterize it, and now it’s gone for the summer. Lesson learned. I am stuck between the dealer messed my boat up and I could fix this in one day for short money and move on. My only hold back, is they don’t want me to see the boat. Is it possible they cracked the block? This same marina cracked 13 blocks last year. All Mercruiser, none Yamaha. The manager says it knocks very loud and water pours into the bilge while in neutral, not in gear. Their mechanic says this is a job only a “Yamaha mechanic” can do, Again, they said there is only 1 for all of northern New England and he is booked out serveral weeks. Why the hell would I ever buy another Yamaha?

You should be able to at the very least look at your boat, check the oil and just go through it. A cracked block is unlikely due to these engines self draining. My guess just from reading your post is they launched the boat, forgot the plug or a bad cooling hose (water rushing in),ran it and water got in the oil.

It is your boat. You have every right to look at it. I would guess if you take the boat out you won't be able to hold them responsible. I would go look at it and have them show you what is going on. After that you will have to make a decision about next steps.
