My Acoustiblok Install

I've watched these threads over 6 years and haven't seen one where someone said it made a significant difference....even after going to great lengths and effort. I've either gotten used to it or my boat isnt as loud as some others.

My unscientific opinion is that the frequency of the noise is higher than inboard and cuts through the human voice frequencies making it more difficult to converse. You may reduce the decibels somewhat but won't change the frequency of the noise which is the root cause IMO. The entire boat resonates which is why just sealing the hatches and covers doesn't really work well. I'm sure the design of the boat hull itself is a contributor.

I'm in the not worth if for such little gain camp.

Gain is hard to determine by ear alone. I extensively sound proofed my SX230HO a few years ago and noticed that the volume was reduced and the high pitch sound at WOT or close to WOT was all but gone. However, after spending close to $400 and 4 days cutting and installing the material it was hard for me to say it was worth it, at least in the short run. Now I think of it as anything is better than nothing which is essentially how the boats are delivered. I also view it as extended/long term safety gear. Still I'm interested to see what the post install decibel readings. I'll verify this when I do a complete write-up but I believe the range I got from idle to WOT last weekend was 68 to 100 decibels (again this was with no stock or aftermarket sound deadening foam installed at all).
