Does anyone have this app on their phone? If so, does it just give your charts or do you get live information showing where you are?

Live gps and charts. It is great. I use it on a 7 inch tablet. Use it to navigate bouys at night. It shows your speed and direction.

Which app did you download.? I assume you then pay for the area you want from Navionics and download that?

I have it on iPhone, it shows where you are and charts and stuff...I like it because it shows the fish havens out here in the gulf as well.

I have it on my android. It seems to be good but it doesn't have all the info for my area. Still good value for the price though. Cam.

I have it an it is live. I find that the buoys on the Mississippi move around and locations are not dependable on Navionics app.

I assume which ever device you use, Android,Ipad, or iPhone they all work off the GPS of the device?

It does work off the devices GPS.

I have used it on two Android phones an iPhone and a Nexus 7.

The Nexus 7 is high definition so I prefer it but it costs $40.

The maps are as good if not better than Navionics Gold.

You can download the maps ahead of time so you do not need to use data on water.

iPads without data do not have a built in GPS. A $200 Nexus 7 is a better solution.

I have the app on iphone and ipad, works great. I'm not sure I would rely solely on an app for an offshore excursion or on the Great Lakes, but handy for general navigation.

I had it on my iPhone and it worked great. We used it to navigate Table Rock a couple of summers ago and we would have been lost without it. By the end of the day the battery was pretty drained though. So be sure you have a fully charged battery or bring a charger.

I now have a Galaxy Note 3 and have the Navionics app loaded for my area so I have it if I need it. I have not been on the boat to use it yet since I got the phone just before Christmas. I don't normally use the app unless we are exploring unfamiliar waters.

I LOVE Navionics! I have it on iPad and iPhone and it's awesome. I spend all summer boating and then all winter studying the charts for places to explore. I boat on Lake Minnetonka, MN and I kid you not there are about 530 total buoys on the lake alone! And of course Navionics plotted only the key buoys so I take some free time during the winter to plot the buoys from satellite imagery coordinates! (And correct the incorrect ones). All in all though, it's a fantastic app for boaters, jet boaters, and fisherman alike.

Bringing up an old thread here but what is the differences between free and pay versions of navionics? I haven't played with it much more than tracing a route.

Pay $10 and you get detailed maps. Use the free version if you enjoy paint by number maps.

PS, paying $10 is fun compared to $100 for less access for a chart plotter.

(I only boat mostly on the same lake and even I sprang for the $10--cheap enough to do it just for fun.)

Free seems to upload another map service similar to google maps and puts it over it that is on free version. Obviously uses data. I will have to mess with it on the tablet and see what actually shows up with wifi off. That is what i hope to use for Bimini but the phone is what i will normally use on Lake Michigan.

@Speedling go to http://webapp.navionics.com/ and have a look at Bimini. Then do the same in the free app. The difference is the level of detail. Details that may mean the difference of boating in the open channel or through the rocks. The $10 is a good investment.

This is the terrain "overlay".
Just showing what there is available. And i know from looking at the website version of bimini how much more detail there is.Screenshot_20170210-050957.png
