Hey everyone, I was replacing the wear ring and after putting everything back together I broke the bucket cable here at the thread. How do I fix this? Will I need to replace the entire cable or is there a small section from the transom to the bucket?20240203_162008.jpg

It can be rectified but you have to be very mechanically inclined looks like you put it on upside down and broke it when it was deployed. if you use a small coupler and some threaded rod you could fix it , shorten the threaded end, screw on the coupler and then replace the threaded end attaching it in the other end of the coupler , use thread lock on it and you should be ok but get the length correct

Thanks for the response. I'm pretty sure there was no way to put it on upside down but anything is possible. I see on partszilla that its the entire cable from the throttle back. Has anyone replaced this cable? Can you just disconnect it from the throttle, tie a fish tape to it and pull out from the stern?

It happened when I was tightening it up.20240203_145923.jpg

You can replace the entire cable but you don't need to . That is probably 6mm thread so get a stainless 6mm coupler cut the bent part of the broken end where the threads are, screw the coupler on to the remaining threads and then get a 6mm bolt and screw it in to the other end of the coupler, then cut it to size removing the head but making sure you have sufficient threads, then remove the locking nut and remaining part of the broken cable and screw on the lock nut and the end , adjust the end to the proper length and clip it on to the ball of the reverse hood making sure you have the part where the ball is mounted in the correct position. I see you are doing the nylon liners those work great and no pump rattle.. and no more dissimilar metal corrosion messing up the liner and impeller , I always order 1 extra liner so if I need it I can change it out easily While you are doing this add some gear lube to your pump grease and as long as the pump does not get any water in it it will last forever as will the intermediate bearings if you add gear lube to those also, just add it to the existing grease it liquifies it and it works so much better .

1707000331182.jpeg the piece with the ball can be up like in the picture or down , the cable will attach either way but if you attach it down it will bend and break the cable just like your cable looks. When you put it back together you will see what I mean.

I replaced the gate cable on the starboard side last year on my AR230. Fairly easy, there’s a thread on here on how to do it, took me around an hour I bet.
