Looking at buying a new GPS speedo with the gps built in instead of the puck that goes elsewhere.
Anyone use these before?
On a car?
On a plane?
etc?
Looking on Amazon I see quite a few, and it would be pretty nice to actually know how fast I'm going!

Actually I think they do make a speedo sans speed control.

yes, it has no remote puck. it is stand alone and replaces factory speedo. the ss bezel is slightly different than the factory speedo but i consider that minor and enjoy knowing my speed.

Leaning strongly towards the faria white gauge one. I have white on my boat so it would match.
It has the gps and most of the features of the perfect pass one for 184 so i save money as well.

60 would be great in our boats. Then I would want to go 65.

@Speedling How does it fit in the dash? I need a new speedometer and fuel gauge since both of mine don't work.

@Speedling How does it fit in the dash? I need a new speedometer and fuel gauge since both of mine don't work.
I just installed the Faria speedo only version today that @Cray16 recommended. It fit perfectly and is hard to tell it's aftermarket. I'll find out tomorrow how well it works on the water.

Wiring it up was not a simple swap out. Yamaha gauges don't have always on power. The 12vdc post in their gauge is actually switched power and the SIG terminal is actually a non-powered closure to ground. So I had to grab always on 12vdc off the blower switch. The purple wire that was wired to the 12vdc terminal on the factory speedo get's wired to the SIG terminal on the GPS speedo. When I powered up for the first time the unit started buzzing and the needle pegged counterclockwise. I thought I had screwed up the wiring and powered down right away. An hour later after agonizing over my wiring and the instructions I convinced myself I had it right. I powered up again through the key switch and just waited. In a few seconds it performed the start up sweep to 60 mph and back down to 5 mph while it locked the satellites, then settled down to 0.

While I was in the dash I also installed a dual USB outlet with the voltage display above the depth finder (that doesn't work). See pics.
