No level spot to check oil?

Just changed the oil on my 2017 SX210. Tr-1
Took it to the lake today to check the oil level and top off.
Boat sitting in the water, I brought a level with me.
The thought was to find out the level spot in the water so at home on the trailer I could match it up to check the oil level accurately in the future by adjusting the trailer level.
I could not find any level spot on the engines, across the coils or any flat spots that ending up being level tried many different spots and they all seems different.
In fact the port engine was at a different level than the starboard engine, that was with just me in the boat sitting in the middle of it with what should be a pretty balanced load.
Am I missing something? or is it just not that precise when you check the oil level how "level" the engines are?

sitting in the water should be level enough. Unless you have the sumo brothers sitting on the swim platform.

Honestly you’ll likely never get them “level” on the water unless you have some people with to help adjust the boat’s attitude. The way I figured was best I put the level on the valve cover across the coil packs and adjusted the trailer. Run on the hose for 5-10 minutes until warm and check it then.

Also don’t forget these are dry sump engines, so the dipstick actually is measuring an oil reservoir not oil in a pan under the engine. The attitude of the engine isn’t as vital as with an oil pan.

Really? Is mine (a bit older than yours) a dry sump also? I always assumed they were wet sump...
