Ooops <ran aground>

GT, I did have a flashback of that post, actually many flashbacks in 2 hours of sitting there

OUCH!! Hope the mild stroke that came with that sudden stop wasn't too bad.

We did that last year getting onto a local beach. We wanted one final stop on a secluded beach on the way back to the ramp. I forgot to remember it was low tide... so yeah. For a little over 2 hours I thought we were going to have an impromptu camping trip. (the kid was good with that...mama, not so much)
Finally about 10 min after sunset the boat started to float enough I could pull it back to deeper water and make it home just before dark. .... whew! close one.

Oh, man! Hope the damage is not too extensive.

Your comment about pro/con of the exceptionally shallow draft of these boats reminded me of that guy that managed to get his boat about 1/2 mile into super shallow flats while on plane and got stuck there. For weeks, I believe. Epic YJB thread on that. Believe it was approx Sept 2009, but my memory might be off.
That thread was great! I think that's one of the first ones I read when I joined the forum, wasn't his name Mudskipper or something?

I to have been stuck on the beach and started to get worried. Was anchored at Shell Island in Panama City on the gulf side, walked down the beach a little ways playing with the kids and heard the awful sound of a wave hitting the side of the boat, the boat had turned sideways and was up against the sand. I ran back and got it turned pointed into the waves mostly, if weren't for some random amazing guy walking by that came to help me push it would have been bad!

I believe it was TexasDJsomething. I remember being glued to the computer watching for updates.

Oh yeah, I remember reading that one!

Same thing happened to me last Sat. It was in the CT River just south of the Rocky Hill Ferry. Thankfully no one was hurt and I am a member of Boat US so they pulled me out. Only some minor scratches on bottom since it was just sand.

Ummmmm, we're gonna need more details than that @albett3!

We took my sister-in-law, her husband and two kids out. Was the first time out of the year. Went around a bend in the river (wasn't in the channel) and all of a sudden the boat slowed down and I realized that I was in sand. I put the throttles in neutral, but by that time I was only in about 2" of water. The river is pretty low (and it was almost low tide) and have never had an issue about being outside the channel before. Oh well, lesson learned. The Boat US Membership certainly paid for itself! A jet ski and a boat tried to pull me out but it wouldn't budge. Once they got me floating again, the boat fired right up and made it back to Wethersfield Cove without any issues. Good thing there is no lower unit and prop or I am guessing there would have been a good amount of damage.

Wow, glad it all worked out ok. I would have figured it would have been a little more exciting than that. The boat looked really out of the water. I have never experienced being towed off a shoal or anything. Only one time in a friends boat did we get too shallow and we were able to push the boat back into deeper water.

I don't often run aground, but when I do....
