Outrunning fall

Fall is here... In a last stand effort to hold on to the boating season me, @Eric Ballard and @AndyD are planning on making a New Bern to Beaufort run and back on October the 28th. This will be my crews final run of the 2017 season. This will be a day run to cut down on cost. @Eric Ballard has done the run before and is familiar with places to launch. The run will go down the Neuse River, through admas creek and to the Beaufort waterfront for lunch. All of this is dependent on the weather of course. Anyone in the area or willing to drive is welcome. Any takers??

I would love to go , but we are in Raleigh 27th to watch my nephew qb for Ravenscroft. It's his senior night. Maybe I can convince wife to leave early Saturday morn. What time are y'all thinking of leaving New Bern ?

Not really sure.. i am in zebulon.. right next to raleigh and eric is in clayton. Andyd is going down friday night. Its not a real long boat ride so i would think launching at 9 or 10 would be fine... eat lunch somewhere in beaufort or morehead and come back later in the afternoon. What do you think @Eric Ballard ?

@Neutron ... @Eric Ballard has two boat ramps in mind... do you have an inside track on a better ramp to is? I am fine with javing to pay a small fee for a nicer place to launch from if one is avaliable..

I launch 2.5 miles from my house on Brices Creek called Merchants its a small ramp but i have never had any issues even with low water levels. Its never really busy. And having the store with gas makes it convenient
If you google earth Merchant's Grocery you will get an idea where it is.
Other than that you should use Larsons Creek. But only use the ramp at the very end of the park.

@Neutron, I believe the two spots @Eric Ballard has used are here. Is this what you're referring to as Larson's Creek? What's wrong with the other first ramp (green one) here as I believe in an old post Eric mentioned it was bad as well? Is the red one better?

Yup, red one is way better. All my local friends use thd red one. Lots of bass boats use the green one

larson creek looks easy to get to.. Not a lot of parking but with fall here it shouldn't be too busy..

There is actually plenty of parking. It looks decieving so dont sweat it.

10 day forecast looks a little chilli (especially at 30 mph cruise speed), but might still work. 60s to 70s and sunny during day; wind south to north at about 5 to 10 mph.
