if you remember some do's and don't' having a head on board is easy to manage. Here are some.
1. Get a good one
2. Get a small one
3. Never forget to throw in an enzyme packet and a cup of water.
4. Don't empty (unless you are sure #1 is only there) for a couple of days to let the enzymes work to liquefy the waste.
5. Don't fill up the flushing reservoir - just enough for 15 flushes is my rule (you can always add more. This makes it easier to take in/out of the boat.
For guests over 5' and not a contortionist, I use a pop up tent, pull back the carpet and set the toliet at the stern. Any accidents gets sprayed down with the onboard shower hose ( never hapened)
