I am new to this board and just bought a 2018 Yamaha AR195 and was reading about issues with over greasing intermediate bearing. I was wondering if any one has tried pressure relieving Zurk fittings and if so what pressure would be adequate to prevent seal blowout? Thanks in advance.

@jikirk1 ...... my opinion would be that the amount of lubricant specified should not require a pressure relief fitting as there should not be any type of noticeable back pressure. The lubricant is meant to travel down the tube (newer models) from a zerk fitting on the starboard top of the engine (facing) when the engine cover is removed. The amount specified by Yamaha at 10 hours then at every 100 hours afterward (lengthy posts on this thread on this forum) is meant to lubricate the seal not the bearing so very little is required and (again) there should be no back pressure build-up. .

I used a syringe ? and filled up the port its completely empty from the factory. Just back out the fitting I have a small container of grease thinned out with two stroke oil and filled it up .

As I have suggested many times, remove the fitting and use the syringe, the syringe is the way to go. Some people have no clue but trust me the grease gun is your enemy and once you separate the rubber from the housing you have a disaster in the making . I also like the gear lube as it helps to lube the bearing and seals. Makes them last a lot longer. Some of us have actually worked on these boats for a long time . But as I always say it's your boat do as you wish.
