Note I chose nylon spacers specifically due to nylon's thermal characteristics. Melt point 320 - 530 F, ignition point >790 F (depending on exact nylon type used). I wanted both air gap behind charger to aid in charger cooling and a telltale if charger was getting really hot. Nylon fit the bill and the spacers were readily available at local hardware store.
Also, I suggest avoiding polystyrene spacers as its melting point is about 100 F lower than nylon.
