It looks like the anchor that came with my boat may be little too small. I notice there is slot in the bow of the boat that holds the anchor but rod is slightly too short. Also it doesn't seem to hold the boat as well and we keep drifting in the lake.

Could some one confirm if this is the proper anchor for 2013 212x? I want to confirm it fits in the anchor storage of 2013 212x and will hold the boat in place when used.

If anyone has this please let me know your experience with it.

Thank you.

Hi @dansshin . I used that same anchor last year on my 212x and it was not able to hold the boat at all. It does not grab in weeds and I boat on Minnetonka, which is covered with milfoil and other salad. I was completely frustrated and it really sucked to have not confidence in your position on the lake.

I switched this year to the small size slide box anchor and it is about 9 of 10 "holds" so far this year. I highly recommend the box anchor but it does require some thought to how it sits in the boat to prevent damage. The box anchor also works with far less rode which makes it more flexible in my view when considering where to set it and how far you need to be from other boats.

Those slip ringed fluke anchors are a total waste of time, replace with a proper fluke and you should be ok.

Hey @dansshin...

I have 2 galvanized fluke style anchors that I picked up at Fleet Farm, one for the front and one for the rear. I had to trim the rod about an inch (.5 inch from each side) to get it to fit into the bow locker. Also added about 3' of galvanized chain to the front and a anchor line to that and they both work perfectly for the lakes around here (sandy/muddy bottoms).

Stay away from the rubber coated anchors, or the 'chain less' one they sell, both are junk in my opinion...

Thanks for sharing your experience. Which box anchor are you using? Do you have a link you can share? Also what did you do with your old anchor?

@RightStuff Thanks. Do you have link to the anchors you are using? I really like the idea of putting the anchor in the anchor storage to keep it off the boat but obviously they need to be able to do the job....

I looked on FF's site, but didn't see it there. The one I bought looks like this:

@RightStuff Thanks for but that looks very similar to the one in my link above which @eticket stated it doesn't hold. My current one is similar looking as well but may be little smaller. What was the weight of this? How are you storing two of these in your anchor storage area?

I think the location you are boating in makes a lot of difference. For the lakes around where I live which are mainly dammed reservoirs, slip ring fluke anchors work fine as the lake bottoms tend to be old farmland (sand/clay). I held my boat and 21' MC in 30' for water for the better part of the day several weekends ago with the SR fluke anchor I keep on my boat. It was a fairly windy and busy day and I saw a lot of other boats drifting. The bonus is they are dirt cheap if I end up getting it stuck in a log and I'm unable to retrieve.

I do have to cut a bit off the rod on the ones I can buy locally at Academy to get it to fit (I'm on #2), but a little paint to keep it from rusting and it works great.

How much chain do you have between the anchor and anchor rope?

The one in the link has the ring that slides where you attach the chain/line, having that spot fixed at the end of the anchor makes a difference. Having chain on the front makes it even that more effective at setting/holding.

I'm not sure of the weight on the ones I have, maybe 15-17 lbs? I think when I bought them I just went more by the width or the rod to fit in the locker and the overall length so it would sit there. I can send a picture later as we are planning on going out tonight/tomorrow if you need one, just let me know.

As for storage, only one will fit in the bow locker space. I keep the other in the compartment behind the drivers seat.

@dansshin , this is the box anchor:

I still have the Yamaha anchor that fits the locker, you are welcome to PM me an offer!

I went through the same situation with the stock anchor, didn't hold at all.

I have since purched 2 anchors, a small box anchor and a Digger anchor

I would say both are excellent, they both hold very well and i have ZERO problems now.

The box anchor is more of a pain, it lifts up all kinds of crap from the bottom that you have to struggle to clean without dinging your boat. The digger anchor holds as good and comes up cleaner.

here is the digger anchor, I think I have the 12lbs, I would have to look to be sure

Never measured it but I'm guessing between 3' - 5'. It's what came with my boat when I purchased it.

I boat mostly at near by lakes like Medicine lake which also has bunch of salad covering the bottom like you mentioned about Lake Minnetonka. Based on your experience I doubt it would work for me as well. However if you'd like to get rid of it for next to nothing I could come pick it up and give it a shot. I think it would be better than my current anchor that I got with my boat which doesn't even fit properly on my anchor storage. I'm off all week next week so let me know.

Thanks for the advice on the box anchor. I've never even heard of that until you mentioned it. However that does look awkward to be able to pull it out of the water and store it. Honestly I never thought I would have to put this much thought into an anchor. LOL!

By the way how do you like your 2015 212x? Do you mostly use it for wakeboarding or surfing? It looks very sharp!

Have a fun and safe 4th of July!

<- Nevermind... :) I was just out hooking up the boat, so here's a pic for you.

Thanks for the picture. I kept thinking mine was same as this so I went out and checked and I do see some differences. Yours also looks much bigger and heavier.

Thanks for the information on the digger anchor. Is that easy to store? It looks like I would have to get a 15lb one based on the information in the link you provided.

We have the "small" box anchor. It just flat works. I will say that it's cumbersome to deal with when bringing it back up from the bottom - heavy and holds a lot of dirt/mud and I'm always nervous that I'm going to hit it against the boat! However, I LOVE being able to just toss it overboard, let out a bit of slack and have it hold us perfectly.
