Did you place them both side by side or split them one on port, one starboard? If on the same side, is there a noticeable list? Would you do it differently if you had to do it all over again?

I’m planning to add a house battery and I can believe how heavy the 27 series batteries are. It seems like it would make sense to split them and not worry about it. I suppose I should also ask how often you really need to check the water level on non-AGM batteries? I would like to tuck them as far back as I can, but if I’ll need to check them often, it might be a pain if they are too far back.
Thanks in advance!

I have a little larger boat, but had the same question when re-arranging my batteries. I left them both in the port aft compartment. Why? Because when I take the boat out there is usually about 190 lbs of dead weight on the starboard side, just behind the helm...

Did the same on my sx230, I have 3 batteries on the port side. I usually put my cooler on that side too. You'll get more of a lean to one side from buckets not being perfectly aligned than batteries on one side imo

Thanks for the replies. So far it’s not sounding like anyone is regretting keeping both on the same side.

The larger boats that have dual batteries stock, also have them beside each other. I doubt it makes a big enough difference to weight distribution to be an issue.

Went 2 on port. Will likely add a third. Offset with a couple 50lb steel bags on the starboard side. Mainly because my daughter and I both ride goofy.

I have 3 on port rear. Pushed sound system batteries all the way to the back of compartment. Stock in stock location. Also added all my amps and stereo equipment in same compartment. Sub box is under port helm as well. No list. However, when I decide to surf the boat I'll put two people on that seat for list ?

Mine were both on port side. Lot of room in there. Nice when hooking stuff up to the batteries.
