I am re-installing a IB subwoofer in my starboard side bench set area of my 2016 AR240, I noticed from before there was a lot of flex in the fiberglass when the sub was pounding. Has anybody reinforced that area behind the woofer and if so did you use HDPE (Starboard). If so, what thickness, size and did you use adhesive to attach to the fiberglass? Thank!

I used this: Earmark Plano, Inc. :: MARINE :: Subwoofers & Enclosures :: Subwoofer Installation Accessories :: Earmark 10" Sub Mounting Ring (Whole)

Note I used the solid, one piece mounting ring as I had easy access to the back side of the mounting surface. If your mounting hole is blind, go for one of the split rings.

Edited to add: I drilled the mounting holes for the sub through the mounting ring. I was able to use nuts & bots through so that the sub and mounting ring clamped firmly onto the fiberglass in between like a sandwich. It was very tight, stable, and would never rattle. I saw no need to use adhesive or sealer of any kind.

That is a good option. I was thinking something like a 12"x24" Starboard sheet to reinforce that under seat wall. Is that overkill?

I did the ring. I don't think I did starboard; I did a cheap particleboard one. If it gets wet, that will be an issue. So I put about 7 coats of paint on it, drilled the holes large, and painted in there, too (or tried to). I check it regularly, but so far so good after several seasons (5+).
