IMG_1690.JPG After one yr this is what the factory compression latches look like, pretty horrible. After a little digging this is what I have found, full stainless, much nicer than the factory crap.

These are the new stainless ones, slight modifications and they look and work great, 4 on the fuel tank hatch, 1 on the ski locker and 2 on the clean out plug hatch.

Nice!

IMG_1894.jpgTotal of 7 on my sx 192 and the boat now has quality latches on it, The latches are made by Mar-Pac and retail for around $60 each. If anyone is interested in them shoot me a p.m for more info. They also work on the other models

Thanks, It kills me to have a 1 yr old boat and no matter how good we cleaned the boat and hardware the latches still corroded to hell, its a small fortune to re-place them but it now looks even better then when the originals looked new.

That is crazy after 1 yr. Are you in fresh water or salt? thx!

We are in salt, (gulf of mexico) All of the other hardware on the boat looks great as long as you keep wax on the parts but the latches that yamaha uses are poor quality and can't handle the salt environment. I have many customers boats that are having the same issue with these latches too.

I wonder if there was enough interest if we could put in an order to Mar-Pac directly to buy them in bulk?

Its possible, I purchased the ones for my boat thru a local marine hardware store. I recently found them for $50 each, less the shipping. I guess we need to find out the requirements for being a dealer for mar-pac and the min. order required.
