This past weekend I decided to replace my 3 year old transom ratchet straps due to corrosion. Thank God I did. The starboard side eye decided to snap. When trying to unbolt the ratchet, it just snapped. I'm just thankful it happened in the garage and not on the road.

Aloha Michal! Yikes! It's so worth going over your boat and trailer from time to time. You never know what "thing" you just might spot with a little inspection.

@HawaiiBreeze 100% Scott, I do an inspection before each trip. This just made me realize that I may not have been as thorough as I thought.

A couple weeks after I replaced my trailer tires, I decided to recheck lug tightness, and realized my spare was held on by a couple threads of one lug nut! That could have been ugly if the trailer jumped over the spare at highway speed. Always good to check everything out.
