RGB LED Light Controller

Basically functional testing my RGB light controller.

I'm flipping through modes pretty rapidly in the video, some music enabled, some not...

Each speaker is hooked up to a zone.

In reality I'm thinking:

• Zone 1: In-Boat Speakers
• Zone 2: Cupholders
• Zone 3: Lower Tower Speakers
• Zone 4: Upper Tower Speakers

My only concern is really can I run enough wire into the tower to do two zones. Going to be very tight!

They were the same ones we used for our under cabinet lights in the kitchen.

Looks pretty good Jim. Your not going to want or need all the separation of zones that you may think you need today. But you will want to be able to tone down the lights to enjoy conversation levels with ambient lighting filling in. The music at night, with lights following, will be less than 100% of the time. So find a happy medium and go for it! I love the lights!

Not sure I understand...

Do you mean these?

We bought a bunch for use in the kitchen, but I don't plan to use those on the boat. I just soldered all the connections.

Well, you may be right...especially with larger quantities, because you will want to turn off some, depending on the mood or activity. I guess I had zones too. I revamped the courtesy lights to LED, had the speakers and cupholders on another switch, head compartment LEDs on the compartment switch. I intended to have lighting in the engine compartment and would have wanted that separate as well. And with 69 watts of light in the boat in RGBs, I might have wanted the speakers and cupholders separate. Had I found an app back then to control them from the phone, I might have had all those zones!

That kit comes with 12v power supply and controller. If you're going to use a different controller and 12v power on the boat, you can just buy the strips for less than half the cost. This is what I have
