I am looking for spots to add an amp, a fuse box and some other things. I can easily mount under the rear seats on the engine side, how about the hull side? Its probably a dumb question since it seems like the carpet is essentially against the hull. Any clearance there?

there's no clearance, you would go right through the hull, as its only about 1/4" thick :).

here's what I did, though:

the bottom is secured to the floor with l-brackets, and the top is secured with velcro on the back against the hull side. This is the port side under seat storage area on my boat.

hope this helps.
