My bucket moves freely when the engine isn't on. When engine is running at idle at 1800rpm it is very difficult to move back into neutral and then reverse. My manual says the idle speed should be 800rpms. There is nothing in the way of the bucket and my dealer has been at a loss. WORDS of WISDOM?
I am on a river with a swift current and difficulty in shifting makes it tough.

@Grayjrk It is normal for the reverse bucket to be stiff when the engine is running because there is water always running through the venturi. This will also prevent you from accedentaly placing the boat in reverse while travelling forward.

The reverse bucket is moved by a cable similar to the brake line on a bicycle, it isnt hydraulic like some boats. You can adjust it, and you can also check for kinks, but for the most part it will take a small bit of force. You will get used to it, and like me thank God it was there if you hit a nice size wake or wave.

Thanks ScarabMike My only issue is that it literally takes 2 hands to pull it back while pushing the release button. That's why I asked about the idle speed.
This is my 3rd jet boat. I had the Tango and Mirage from SS. It was fun to pull the bucket back and sink the bow for a quick stop!!! Is there an idle adjustment screw?
I haven't had the time to crawl all over it yet and it isn't in my yard to have close access.
