Hello! I have a 2012 242 Limited S. I lost the cushion #2 (the rear bench behind the Captain’s chair) and am hoping someone can send me the dimensions (or even a template if it’s odd shaped) of the board for that cushion. I have the skin. Don’t go through any trouble. Hoping it’s an easy access for someone though. Thanks in advance!

Hello ! I've just lost a seat cushion (while trailering) from my 2010 212X. I believe they call it the #2 cushion, which is directly behind the captain's chair. Because it is old, I can't seem to find any supplier to purchase a replacement, but then came across your post here and thought I'd reach out to you and ask you how you ended up getting a replacement. Any advice would be appreciated !

I ended up making my own. I measured the dimensions as best I could based on the seat on the other side, measuring the gap between the wall and the cushion and the overlap of the cushion on the outer edges. Then I measured the length and width of the seat area I was replacing, factoring in the measurements I got from the other side. Then I cut a piece of plywood into that shape. (I didn’t use starboard because of the expense.) I tested it as I went along, especially around the space behind the captains chair to make sure it could still spin around. I bought 3 inch foam from Lowe’s and cut the shape out I needed. I found a video on YouTube giving tips on how to cut and shape the foam. The biggest tip was to use an electric carving knife that you would use to cut a turkey. It worked great. The bottom measurement of the foam will be the same as the board, but the top will be larger, which will allow you to cut the foam at an angle down to the bottom measurements. This allows for the overhang of the foam from the board. (You’ll see what I mean when you look at the other cushion.)

Next I found a marine vinyl supplier and tried to find the closest color match I could find. I brought along a cushion with me to compare. If you can, try to compare it in the sunlight. You won’t find a perfect match because of the age difference, but I got pretty close. I didn’t do any piping on the edges. I then watched videos on how to put on vinyl. That was a big help because you use a hair dryer to take out wrinkles and they give tips on how to staple it so it won’t tear. Next, I put a little strips of wood on the bottom of the board next to the edges of he gap to help keep it from sliding around.

The end result, I have a seat now that looks decent and does the job but it will be a factor if I ever want to sell it. I wish I had better news for you but the work will be worth it if you decide to dive in. Keep us posted.
